UPI Payment: After making purchases in today’s time, people mostly resort to UPI payment. UPI is an easy mode of payment transaction that is being used by everyone in this digital age. But many times while making UPI payments in haste, money goes to a wrong account.
People panic when this happens, but there is no need to. If this happens to you, you can file a complaint well in advance. Money will be returned to your account within 48 hours of complaint. Let us know the complete process for this.
Call helpline number
If you have paid on the wrong number, then first you have to call the helpline number of the payment platform (Phonepay, Google Pay, Paytm). There, you will have to give all the information asked for. After this, you go to the website of the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and file a complaint. Along with this, you should also lodge a complaint with your bank as soon as possible.
Complain with these steps
First of all you call the BHIM helpline number 18001201740. Give all the information asked here.
After this, fill all the details of the transaction like PPBL, number (on which you have made wrong payment) and lodge a complaint with your bank.
If the bank does not complete your refund process within the stipulated time, then you can complain to the Ombudsman by visiting its website.
After the complaint process is completed, your transaction will be verified after which your money will be refunded in 2 to 3 working days.

If your money has gone to a wrong account then apart from going through all the legal procedures, you should also contact the number on which you have made the wrong payment. You can request the person to return the money.
